We have been so blessed with this little stinker (and I may regret saying this later...) but she has been such a good baby! She sleeps and eats so well. Maddie has even put herself on a feeding schedule. We have been loving getting to know her as part of our family. She generally sleeps well at night, and I know she is eating well because she is around 11 pounds now! What a chunk. :) She has been completely out of newborn clothes and diapers for about a week now, and she is 3 1/2 weeks old.
Madelynn loves cuddles with Dad and Mom and Grandma (she's not particular yet), nursing, and being snuggled in a blanket. She does not like having a dirty diaper, taking baths, or getting dressed. She like to FaceTime with her Grandpa and Aunt Michala - she hasn't quite figured out who those people on the screen are but she is fascinated by it!
For her first week of life, Maddie was stuck under the
biliblanket for her jaundice 24/7. She could only come out to nurse, and
she was not a fan of the blanket or the goggles she had to wear to
protect her eyes. We are so glad we were able to do the phototherapy at
home though, and not have to re-admit her to the hospital. It was close
but we squeaked by! Thankfully, though, her numbers dropped enough to
take her out of the biliblanket when she was about a week and a half
old. By now, her coloring is so much better and her eyes are white again
- no more jaundice! hooray!
So far, Maddie isn't much of a crier, surprisingly. She will fuss a little if it's time to eat or change, or if she's cold getting out of the tub, but otherwise she doesn't complain much. We had a really tough day earlier this week when I had to get a CT scan for my bad kidney, and couldn't nurse her for 24 hours. She took a bottle wonderfully, but was very fussy, clingy, and crying all day. Good thing it was only a 24 hour thing! The next day she was back to normal.
Picture overload warning. :)
