Maddie's Fall Photo Shoot
I wanted to do a little fall photo shoot of Miss Maddie, just for fun! We set up a little makeshift studio on our back patio, which gets beautiful light, and I snapped a few pictures.

Pumpkin Patch and Halloween 2014
Okay, so I'm a little late on these pics, but I have a newborn at home. :) We went to the pumpkin patch near our house to pick out some pumpkins to carve! Maddie could not have cared less about the pumpkins, but we had fun toting her around and taking pictures. She even got to pick out her own baby pumpkin!
For Halloween this year, we ventured out to our Ward Trunk or Treat party. It was Maddie's first big outing! James dressed up as Kilian Jones, AKA Captain Hook and I was Regina, AKA the Evil Queen, from Once Upon a Time. Maddie was our lil' pumpkin. :) We had fun! It was good to see some of our friends that we hadn't seen since Madelynn was born. She didn't do any trunk or treating, but she was the star of the show!

3 Years
3 years ago yesterday, we were married for time and all eternity in the Bountiful Temple.
3 years??? How has it already been three years? It seems like no time at all. I guess time flies when you're having fun, huh?
In all seriousness, these have been three wonderful years. Yes, we've had our hardships. We've been through cross country moves, unemployment, financial difficulties, infertility, and the loss of my mother. We've had our struggles, as all people do. But in all honesty, having James by my side has made each of those things easier to deal with. We are a team - he and I against the world, and there's no one I'd rather have fighting my battles with me. Together we can get through anything! I firmly believe that.
I know we are still "newlyweds" in the eyes of many who have been married for much longer, but I feel as if I have learned so much in these last few years of marriage. I've learned a lot about who I am, the good and the bad, and who I want to become. I've learned how to sacrifice, and compromise, and love unconditionally (well, I'm still learning those lessons..and more, but I'm trying!). I've learned that I'm still learning, and will never be done. I've learned to enjoy the small and simple joys in life, as those are the memories I look back on most fondly.
I can't believe all that we have accomplished in three years! And having sweet Maddie in our family has only made it better. I love you, James. Here's to many, many more years together!

Maddie: One Month
Dear Madelynn,
You are one month old today! I can hardly believe it. This month has just flown by - as I'm sure the months will. You have grown and changed quite a bit in just a month! I feel like we are really getting to know you and your sweet little personality. Here are some facts about you at one month old:
-You wear size 3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. The 3 month onesies and pants fit just fine, but the 3 month size jammies are almost too small in length! You are very tall.
-According to our unofficial home scale/weighing method, you weigh about 11 pounds.
-You eat every 2-3 hours during the day and about every 3-4 at night, for 6-10 minutes on each side.
-You love music! You love to be sang to, and you like to listen to the music on your swing or to your lullaby CD your Grandpa gave us.
-You love your Daddy. You can be fussing and fussing for me, and as soon as I pass you over, you quiet down and just stare at him. I can't blame you - I love him too! :)
-You don't like taking baths, but you love taking showers with Mom. I think you like the continuously warm water in the shower and get cold in baths, as I'm too afraid to submerge you in the tub.
-You decided in the last few days that you don't like to be swaddled, which is frustrating for me, because you sleep better when you are swaddled, but you will fuss and fuss until I unwrap you and you can put your hands by your face.
-You love your paci!
-You have also decided that 8-11 PM at night is a grand time to be awake. I have been trying to get you to go to bed earlier, but you refuse. Oh well, you're still small, but I am trying to break that habit! Momma needs her sleep, too.
-You like to read books with Mom during the day. You aren't picky yet about what I read to you, but you seem to like books that have a rhythm to them the best, like Dr. Seuss books, Madeline, and others that are similar.
-You got to meet LOTS of people this month! Some family who came to see you are: Grandma, your Aunt Cindy and cousin Jordyn, and your Grandpa and Aunt Michala. You love company - you just stare down whoever is holding you and give little smiles to them.
We love you so much, Maddie! We are so blessed to have you as part of our family.
Love,
Mommy
