Maddie: Two Months

Dear Madelynn,

These two months have just flown by! Every day you grow and learn and change. You are definitely becoming more interactive now! Here are some things about you at two months old:

-You love to listen to Kenny Loggins Pooh Corner when you sleep. Naptime or bedtime, you love it. It hardly ever fails to calm you down and put you to sleep.

-You kind of have a schedule. I also want to point out that I did not force you into this. You did it yourself and I love knowing what to expect usually! Most days of ours look like this:
  • 8:15 Wake up
  • 8:30 Eat
  • 8:30-9:30 Playtime
  • 9:30 Nap
  • 11:30 Eat
  • 11:30-12:30 Playtime
  • 12:30 Nap
  • 2:30 Eat
  • 2:30-4:30 Playtime
  • 4:30 Nap
  • 5:30 Eat
  • 5:30-11:00 is anybody's guess. You sleep, you eat, you play, you scream randomly. This is probably your hardest time of day and you are so unpredictable at this point.
  • 11:00/11:30 Eat and go to bed.
  • 4:30-6:00 You wake up and eat sometime during this time frame most nights. Just once though.
-You refuse to go to bed unless Mom & Dad go to bed at the same time as you. Somehow you always know - if I put you in your bed and don't go to bed at the same time, you wake up so angry. So as long as you are sleeping in our room, I guess you will be going to bed when we do. :)

-You have become a much more efficient eater. You nurse for less than 10 minutes each time you eat, and seem full! If you have a bottle, you drink about 4 oz of breastmilk, but it takes you much longer than nursing.

-You got to visit the ranch and meet all of your Saunders and McCutcheon family! It was so much fun to go for Thanksgiving. You really enjoyed all of the attention, that's for sure!

-You were also blessed this month, on November 30, by your dad. It was a beautiful blessing, fit for a princess. :)

-Your 2 month appointment is next week, so I'm not sure how tall you are, but you weigh around 12-13 pounds now.
--Update: You are 12 pounds, 11 ounces, in the 90th percentile, and 24.5 inches long, off the charts!

-You wear 3 month clothes, 6 month jammies (you are just so tall), and size 1 diapers.

-You always take your first nap in your swing, but your next two are generally in your crib. You actually sleep great in there, as long as you have white noise and Kenny Loggins! You still sleep in a Rock N Play right next to my bed at night.

-You are starting to get stronger with your neck muscles. You can hold your head up very well if you are on someone's shoulder, but if you are laying down, it's a bit harder for you. You are doing much better though with practice! And you do enjoy tummy time, which is good.

-You still aren't really interested in toys, but you do like to lay on your playmat and look at toys that I dangle from that. Every now and then you bat one with your hand, but mostly you like to look.

-You LOVE to be outside. You also LOVE to be in the shower. Either one will calm you down if you get too upset.

-I think you have acid reflux. You constantly spit up and are crabby when you do so, like it is hurting you. It is so sad, and I wish I could help you! We are going to ask your pediatrician about it next week. You are also very, very gassy. I think I need to start cutting out some foods to see if you have any sensitivities.

-You still LOVE your pacifier. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a hard time taking it away from you eventually haha. But for now, I am perfectly fine with it. We call it your paci or your numma.

-You also started smiling and talking a lot more this month. I can't tell you how much I love your little voice and your happy smile!

-You have baby curls! If I put some product in your hair after a shower or bath, they even stay! I love to make you my "curly head sue" :)

-Your nicknames are princess, peanut, sweet pea, and punkin. Daddy calls you princess the most, because you are his little princess. True story. <3

We love you so much, Maddie! You have brought so much joy to our family!

Love,
Mommy
